This is my first time blogging and I am fairly nervous about it. I never have thought “Hey, maybe I’ll start a blog”, professionally or personally. I am trying to be open to it, after all it is a requirement. 😊After reading the article on 9 reasons teachers should blog, I have opened my eyes to the benefits of blogging. It can be a great way to express ideas, be creative, develop confidence in writing, to communicate and collaborate with other teachers. I think this will take time to feel comfortable and confident, but I have to start somewhere.

I particularly like reason 5. “Serve Others: Build your own library of content and resources and share it with others. Wouldn’t it be nice to create a library of useful links, articles, content, activities, etc”? I can see this being very useful.

  1. Hey Jessika! I had the same feelings as you! Although I wasn't jumping up and down to blog, I have started to feel better about why and have opened my eyes to the benefits! The part I am most excited for is collaborating with everyone, which is something we don't get the chance to do very often being in online classes.

  2. Hi Jessika! I had similar feelings towards writing a blog. It just seemed like an extra step of work. But I think it will be beneficial to see other people's thoughts in a professional but friendly way of writing.

  3. Hi Jessika! I completely agree with your thoughts on the article. Creating a PLN through blogging is the only reason necessary to blog, in my opinion, but the other benefits just add to reasons to blog! Creating a place filled with resources, activities, content, and reflections is so important as an educator. Blogging can help us become better teachers, and although I have never experienced it before I am excited to try it out! At first, I will admit I was hesitant to blog/share my thoughts online. However, after reading this article and others similar I have warmed up to the idea and cannot wait to keep blogging throughout the term!

  4. Hi Jessika, I"m not very comfortable with this idea of blogging at all! Who knows if we're open to it we might find we're blogging all of the time! Hopefully, you enjoy it and it helps in your learning!

  5. Hi Jessika! This was also my first time blogging, and boy did it feel strange. Though our blogs are to remain professional and academic, it's such a less formal route than the normal MLA/APA formatted reflections I'm used to. I almost feel like I'm breaking some sort of rule! I couldn't decide on a theme, or really figure out how to truly customize my blog to my liking. But then, I remembered it's all about the content in the end. I feel as though I did a good job relaying my opinion about the module 1 articles, and that was what truly mattered. Thank you for sharing your struggles and journey. You did a great job!

    1. Avelina, I am struggling with making it look good and read well. It's a work in progress to say the least. This weekend is my birthday, my boys, my husband and I took our boy scout troop on an outdoor camping trip ( tents in 25 degrees, cooking in a Dutch oven, over the fire they built ) and my boys also had travel baseball today. I al going to carve out more time this week for my blog for sure.
